The IBM Mainframe (yes, we still have one) will be down for maintenance
Sunday morning from 7AM to 10AM. It may be up intermittently during
this interval, but we will be shutting it down and re-ipling it a number
of times as we check things out. For those interested in what is
happening:

IBM is dropping maintenance on our old mainframe (an IBM 9672) and so we
have purchased an IBM 7060-H50 to take its place. The 9672 is a 5
processor machine with 1GB of memory, the new machine is a single
processor machine with 2GB of memory. The single processor on the 7060
is roughly as fast as the 5 on the old processor combined so it should
be roughly equivalent.

The new machine comes with integrated Ethernet adapters and an
integrated RAID array. We will initially use our old disk array and
move to the integrated one over the rest of the month. If things go
well, we will move to the integrated Ethernet adapters Sunday morning.

Things to look out for if you have mainframe applications:

The CPUID is changing (from FF04152996720000 to FF01068D70600000). If
you have software that checks the CPUID, you will need to get a new key
or use the SET CPUMODEL and SET CPUID commands to set the CPUID to the
old values.

The IP address will change when we move to the integrated Ethernet
adapters. If you have been using the IP address (130.111.2.1 or
130.111.2.3 you will need to use the new IP addresses 130.111.32.53 and
130.111.32.54 respectively).

This machine will no longer run 370 mode virtual machines. We have
checked to make sure there are none of those running, but if you have
been changing into 370 mode for any reason, that will no longer work.
