Good afternoon,
Here at the Monhegan Library, we’re eagerly working on a program with Youth
Poet Laureate Kara Jackson for our Annual Distinguished Writers Series. As
a young up-and-coming poet, hosting Kara is going to be a truly unique
experience and we are very excited!
Since Kara Jackson is coming out from Chicago for this, I thought it could
be a special opportunity for other Maine libraries as well. Would anyone
else be interested in having her speak? Our event will be on Monhegan
Island from August 14-16, but otherwise she has an open August schedule. We
will be covering her airfare from Chicago to Portland, but any help
transporting her between the airport and the hosting libraries would be
appreciated, since she won’t have a car. You may also have to put her up,
depending on her schedule. Her representatives have quoted me $2,500 for
her speaking fee, so I assume that each hosting library would have to pay
this. I know all too well that may be out of reach, but I wanted to let you
know anyway!

If this would something you’d like to collaborate on, let me know and we
can chat! Please reply off list: [log in to unmask] Thanks
and have a great day!
