*What is happening?*
Starting at 6AM Sunday morning we will shutting down the LDAP server on
NameO.its.maine.edu to rebuild the database.
This is one of two redundant LDAP servers. Properly configured services
should not notice anything other than short delays
*How long will it take?*
The rebuild of the database should take less than 15 minutes.
*Why is this work necessary?*
Over time the LDAP database grows and becomes fragmented. If it is not
periodically rebuilt it will slow downa and eventually stop accepting
updates.
*What happens if the work is not successful? *
We will back out to a saved copy of the database or copy a working one from
another server.
