I don't know if it has been officially announced, but the consensus
is that they will be:
Vermont-Dartmouth
Harvard-Brown
Yale-Princeton
RPI-Union
Clarkson-St Lawrence
Cornell-Colgate
I will just add that I am happy to see Union become Div I's 45th
team, and I wish them well. I think the people there will be glad
they made this decision. It won't be an easy start, since they become
an ECAC member in only nine months. All of the recent teams that moved
up had several years to build up their program and prepare for the
higher level of play (St Cloud, Merrimack, Kent in 1992). Even Army
entered the ECAC gradually, playing only 11 games in 1984-85 and 1985-86
before becoming a full-fledged member in 1986. So hang in there, Union,
even if the start is rough; it will pay off.
