Good news and possibly some bad news.

First, the good news (Gary Hatfield will like this one).....per the ticket
manager at the Centrum, as reported in yesterday's Worcester T&G, they have
sold 9,500 tickets for Friday night's doubleheader and 11,000 for Saturday.
He is expecting a sell-out for both nights.....definitely for Saturday. The
Centrum seats approx. 13,000 for hockey.

Possibly the best news of all is that they sold approx. half the available
seats from newspaper ads between December and earlier this month. People
want to see good college hockey regardless of which teams are playing. Of
course knowing with virtual certainty that Maine would be playing didn't hurt.

Now the possible bad news. The Centrum, which only makes ice for ice shows and
the occasional NHL exhibition, has had problems with the ice surface this week.
Apparently they got some moisture in the piping which blocked the Freon and
created some warm spots. They cancelled the open skating and youth hockey
sessions that were intended to break in the ice. They expected to resolve the
problems yesterday but we'll see.

Note: This problem is unrelated to the ice-making system failures that caused
so many complaints (and even caused the cancellation of one Bruins exhibition)
a few years back. This is a new ice-making system that was installed about two
years ago. Until now they haven't had any problems with the new system.
