All this rink discussion reminds me of the old theory that certain baseball
teams "built their teams around the ballpark".

That is, the Yankees had lots of LHB to reach the short RF porch, the Red
Sox never needed speed because of the effects of the Green Monster, etc.

What they tended to forget, and those who play on the Olympic rink seem to
forget, that all these teams play up to half of their games at venues set
up different than their own.

I can remember the dimensions of the old Boston Garden and Matthews Arena,
where the rink was "short" - that is, about 190-192 feet end-to-end.

Imagine what the teams who played in the consecutive run of Boston NC$$
finals at the Garden in the 70's went through when they came from their
rinks into a rink nearly 5 % shorter... Talk about having to emphasize
contact and less open ice !

My thought - build your "system", and then it should work wherever you play.
