Army defeated St. Michael's of Vermont 5-1 before 2372 noisy fans at Tate
Rink Saturday night. The victory added another milestone to the Black Knights
long hockey tradition as the victory was # 200 for Coach Rob Riley. Only
Rob's dad Jack (Army coach from 1951-1986) with 343 wins has won more games
as an Army head coach. Jack Riley was the head coach of the 1960 gold medal
(The 1st miracle on ice) US Olympic team. Army broke open a tight game with 3
3rd period goals and Corey Winer had 21 saves in net. Joe Dudek and Tim
Fisher each tallied twice while Derek Hines scored the other Cadet goal. St
MIchael's is the defending D2 NCAA champions. Army is now 11-12--2 and faces
a talented Sacred Heart club on Tuesday before hosting the powerful Purple
Eagles of Niagara for a pair at Tate Rink next weekend in the first College
Hockey America contests at West Point.
