Vicki i am not saying I consider or promote hockey as a blood sport,
playing contact contact sports there will always going to be a chance that
you will end up hurt of paralyzed or even killed. I watched a guy when I was
playing football at upper Iowa University take a vicious hit to the head he
stood up and almost immediately drop to the playing field. This player
actually ended up playing later on in the game. I am just saying there is
alway going to be chance. Are some of these injuries preventable. Yep, I
believe that that teams that play
cheap hockey is a direct result of the coaching that team recieves. If you
watch the WCHA fro example when certain teams get behind (I will not mention
the name of the team(s) almost immediatly these teams begin goon it up, play
a dirty style of hockey. You know the basic run people, check players from
behind , stick fouls etc. This is where you end up with players hurt some
teams will take the skilled players off the ice. Unless the referee is
calling these fouls the games get worse and worse by the 60 minute mark. Do
I like it? No. Do I want to see it change? Yes. Do I have suggestions yes,
take the DQ for fighting out of college hockey. Is that my suggestion to end
all violence no there will still be bad incidents in hockey, they play with
sticks for one reason. I also think the Aluminum stick can also be another
reason for many injuries. Just a thought.
