A couple of weeks ago I read on the www.hockeysfuture.com message
board that the Canadian maritime and western universities were
considering offering athletic scholarships.

1. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this rumor?

2. What do the readers of Hcokey-L think that the effect of this
will be on US college hockey? Will a lot of the players who now
come to the US now stay home?

Well there is the farcical answer that this will assure a national
championship for the U of Minnesota. However, I suspect that most
Canadians who go the US college route will still do that especailly
since the Ontario universities are not rumored to want to give
scholarships (at least by what I read).
