when looking at whats fair or not fair between the sports why is the
athelete the only person whe gets looked at. given the argument that the
college sport is for the entire campus shouldnt we be spending the money
based on other criteria.

1) the atheletes willing to play a sport.
2) the students willing to watch to see a sport.
3) the donors who graduated and are willing to fund a sport.

All current thinking is based on equal opportunity. X number of rosters
spots or X amount spend on funding or X number of unique sports. Why
should each campus have to live by the same rules. Given the social
differences across the country isnt it possible that in area A a campus of
10,000 students split 50/50 might have 10 sports for each sex. if football
is included is likely the males have more spots available. And say more
money is spent on the males. does that make it unfair to woman at the
school? What if the larger majority of the students want to watch football
shouldnt they have that choice?? What if all 5000 guys want to play
football and try out for the team and only 85 make it.... What if for the
10 woman sports there are 150 spots and 200 try our for those teams....
Which sex has been unfairly punished in this case. The 98% of men who want
to play a a sport and cant or the 75% of woman who want to and can. Or has
the large majority of the student population that wants to watch the sport
been punished because football has to be dropped to make roster spots and
monies spent equal??

very seldom does the student population at large get looked at. If 100.000
people go see michigan football and even more follow the teams results if
would seem reasonable that a large number of students are involved.
Probably a large number of both sexes get some pleasure from the sport well
beyond the actual team members. isnt the school supposed to watch out for
the entire campus not just 1 small segment of its population....
