A new goalie has joined the team. His name is Brendan Hynes and he saw
action last night (3saves, 0g, 4:29) in Lowell's 7-1 win over Union.
Apparently, Lowell's backup Jimi St. John is academically ineligible for
this semester and that goalie that was supposed to join the team this month
has yet to clear NCAA waivers. I'm not sure where Hynes came from.

Lowell killed all 7 Union power-play chances to extend their streak to 45
straight. They have won 5 in a row and now have a 7-1 non-conference record.
HockeyEast has significantly improved its record against ECAC teams by going
12-1-1 in last 14 meetings.

Lowell goalie Scott Fankhouser has been hot in the last five games. He has a
.962 save percentage to go along with his 1.02 GAA. His season totals are
now .900 and 2.78. He has now given up 1 goal or less in 6 of Lowell's last
nine games. ( Ten games if you consider he came into the UNH 5-1 loss at
6:11 of the second and gave up one PPG in 33:49 - UNH had 15 shots)

Fankhouser has had a tendacy to be a streak player in the past and did
surrender 9 goals on 47 BU shots in the BU weekend sweep of 12/11-12/12.
But, word is he looked solid despite the goals in those games and he has
really stepped up his game. This is good news for Lowell who might be in
dire need of a solid backup goalie if Fankhouser should falter.

Upcoming tests are plentiful. Lowell plays at Yale and ECAC leader Hamilton
on Friday and hosts HockeyEast scoring power Providence with Keefe, Pisani
and Omicioli. Then they have a home-and-home weekend with the nation's #4
team - UNH ... who has been known to score a few goals from time to time.

On the offensive side, Chris Bell (5g in last 4 games)and John Campbell
(9-game scoring streak ... 6g, 9a) have really picked up the scoring pace
for the first line and the second line is really coming through also. Yorick
Treille ("Trell") has scored goals in consecutive games, Jeff Boulanger
scored a hat trick last night and Brad Rooney has added 5 assists in two
games.
