I won't give my national top 10 right now, but here's my
crack at the ECAC:
1 - Clarkson
Go ahead and call me a homer, but they always seem to be there
in the end. From what I've seen in the ECAC, they have one of the
more (if not the most) experienced group of players, post-season
style. Mark Morris knows how to get the team to play down the
stretch.
2 - Colgate
A good team in Lake Placid last year that was almost embarrassed.
I said they'd be back, and I think they'll definitely be in the
top 4.
3 - Vermont
Perrin and St. Louis will carry them most of the year. I can't
remember if Tim Thomas is gone, but if not, he could be one
of those hot goalies you don't want to face in Lake Placid.
4 - Brown
A solid team that lost a couple people, but knows how to win.
They were a good team last year, but they'll probably drop off
for a year or so until we see them at the top.
5 - Harvard
Another team that knows how to win late in the season. Tripp
Tracy may have to carry the load, since (as someone else said)
no more Steve Martins or any high-profile scorer.
6 - RPI
A team that lost a lot. Yeah, they finished in 6th place last
year, but this year's team isn't as experienced or (maybe) as
confident. Mike Tamburro is about their lone bright spot from
last year (unless I'm missing someone) returning in '95-'96.
7 - Dartmouth
Showed some promise at the end of last year. Could be tough.
8 - Union
A disappointing season in '94-'95 will probably carry over. They
have a good crop of sophomores & juniors, but not many seniors
to lead the way into avoiding the preliminary round. Don't be
surprised if they finish higher, though.
9 - Princeton
I think they're still tired from that playoff run they had (3-game
series against Brown w/about 3 OTs and a hard-fought win against
Clarkson) last year.
10- St. Lawrence
We'll see the Saints near the top, but not this year.
11- Cornell
I'm not sure about the Big Red. Could be a surprise, but I doubt
it.
12- Yale
Same old story. No offense for Todd Sullivan.
Feedback is always welcome.
