A few Black Bear notes:
The Portland Press Herald didn't have a box score (what a shock) but
the game summary said that UAF jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, then
UM scored 7 in a row. Jamie Thompson scored two goals and Trevor Roenick
scored one. (Obviously, thats the Thursday night game).
I am glad to see that Jeff Libby is getting some playing time. As I was
telling Wayne earlier this week, even though he's from Waterville (one
of NYA's biggest rivals) I liked to watch him play and I always considered
him more valuable than Barry Clukey to his team, despite all the attention
Barry got. Jeff is a skilled player, and might be the "standout freshman"
the Bears need if they are going to make any kind of run at BU this year.
Of course, they'll probably need about 10 standout freshmen...
A side note to the Jim Carey followers: He made 23 saves and recorded his
first professional shutout last night in Portland in a 7-0 win over the
Worcester IceCats (who not only are the worst team in the league, but
are now being taken to court for copyright infringement as well - when
it rains it pours...)
John Forsyth
"I would say its good to see Lake State lose, but it probably
means Jeff Jackson will start whining again..."
