Pam Sweeney asks:
>so, if it doesn't affect post-season play, just what DOES the probation affect?
CC will just have to keep a clean nose for a(nother) year and hope the selection
committee doesn't administer another shafting.
It appears the NCAA (note no $$) has issued a "time served" sentence. The
person responsible for the violation (Buetow) has been dismissed, and the
college has demonstrated "institutional control" by self-reporting and getting
rid of Buetow in a speedy manner. If he were still coach, I have a feeling the
penalties would have been stronger. As it stands now, the NCAA has arrived at
a win-win decision, IMO. The (ir)responsible parties have been dealt with, CC's
program is allowed to grow stronger without a major blemish on its record,
and we shouldn't hear any "it's the players who suffer" claims.
