The goal of the Swift Social Justice Grants Program<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmainephilanthropy.us12.list-manage.com%2Ftrack%2Fclick%3Fu%3Dd1c03f4048973fd4da15a0aae%26id%3D7b16a5f687%26e%3D87dcf9a240&data=02%7C01%7Clisa.m.shaw%40maine.gov%7C75a7d7274ab642c302ec08d7c50bf68c%7C413fa8ab207d4b629bcdea1a8f2f864e%7C0%7C0%7C637194527496016336&sdata=%2BOdUf7Gxx9%2BWwZGdK7GHAD2jpfGYMJFBQP7sep%2BU6C4%3D&reserved=0> is to stand with the women and girls from communities disproportionately impacted by the current political and cultural landscape.

This program is designed to meet small requests (up to $1,500) from organizations addressing the immediate needs of communities of color, religious minorities, LGBTQIA communities, immigrants and refugees, and other disproportionately impacted populations. As in all our grants programs, organizations serving all people as well as organizations serving boys and men may apply, but all funding requests must explain how they will specifically benefit those who identify as female.
Deadline: Rolling
We are aware that organizations working with women and girls in these communities may have new and unplanned needs (for example, an organization is holding regular meetings of the community to share information relevant to the community's safety, and needs money to pay for meeting space, provide food, transportation, childcare or other supports so members of can attend).
This is a new grants program with a starting budget of $30,000. Grants that support Swift Social Justice Grants Program goals will continue to be awarded until the funds are distributed. Applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis, with decisions being made by the close of the month for applications received in the first three weeks of month. Applicants can expect an answer to their request within four-five weeks of submitting their application. We expect to be making adjustments to the program to reflect what we learn this spring.
Please contact Kimberly Crichton, Grants Director, if you think your organization and your work is a good fit for this unique funding opportunity at [log in to unmask]<http://undefined/> or 774-5513 x206.
Maine Health Access Foundation
Discretionary Grants
For small projects, open all year. Awards are typically under $5,000. Maximum of $10,000 available for statewide projects.
The Discretionary Grants program was established to fund certain types of small, time-limited projects and activities that are closely related to our mission, but fall outside our competitive grant program areas. Projects that align well with our Discretionary Grants program typically demonstrate one or more of the following key characteristics:

  * Responds to an emerging issue, current need, or window of opportunity
  * Plans for, pilots, or implements a new or creative approach to better serve groups or populations that face disproportionate barriers to accessing health services and achieving the best possible health
  * Supports the work of smaller organizations that may have limited capacity to apply for other types of MeHAF funding
Program Structure:
Our Discretionary Grants program has a two-stage process and a rolling deadline for submission. This allows us and our grantees to move quickly to respond to immediate needs and a dynamic and highly changeable environment. Interested applicants who meet the eligibility requirements below may submit a brief letter of inquiry (LOI) by clicking the "Manage Your Grant" button on the top right corner of this page. If approved, applicants will be asked to complete a simple, straightforward application. Please note:

  * All projects must focus on groups or populations that face disproportionate barriers to accessing health services and achieving the best possible health
  * Awards are typically around $5,000, but may go up to $10,000 for statewide activities that are highly aligned with our mission
  * Projects must have a clear start and end date and be completed within a 12-month period
  * Projects must have a start date that is no earlier than eight weeks from the date of submission of the letter of inquiry
  * Discretionary grant recipients will be asked to schedule a debrief call with the Program Officer upon completion of the project and submission of a brief narrative and financial report
