A few more comments...by the way, I tried to stomach Gamere and Park.
I couldn't do it. Had the radio on over the tv sound after about 5
minutes. I sure wouldn't mind if they'd hire me to do the game, I
*know* I could do better. :-)

Since I had to work late, I missed the entire first period, though I
caught the last 5 minutes of it on the radio driving home. At that
point it was over. The Chiefs outshot Brown only 15-12 in the first,
but they buried the biscuit six times for a 6-0 lead. Geoff Finch
gave up the first five goals, then was replaced by Mike Parsons who
would finish out and give up the last five. From the replays I saw of
the first period, it's tough to blame Brown's goaltending. This is a
team that gave up only 50 goals in 16 games, but their play in their
own end looked horrible. Parsons would give up some bad goals, but
it's tough to perform your best when the other team is up a touchdown
on you after one.

Second and third periods had Lowell skating circles around Brown,
which couldn't muster any offensive attack at all. I tend to think
Brown isn't as bad as this game, like with Lowell and its 11-3 loss to
RPI. Even Lowell radio guy Bob Ellis was clearly surprised, though he
raised an interesting point that may have contributed to the one-sided
affair. Lowell seems to think they should have made the NC$$ tourney
last season and that Brown stole a spot from them. Apparently Bruce
Crowder used this to motivate his team. I don't believe they're
right, but credit Crowder with finding a way to fire his team up.
Another factor was probably that Brown had been off for 10 days.

Lowell added two more in the second and third to make it 10-0.
Roloson was replaced by little-used Craig Lindsay to start the third,
and the only Brown goal came late when Lindsay bobbled the puck
outside his crease and Brown's Ryan Mulhern flipped it in the open
net.

As for scoring, Shane Henry (0-4--4) and Mike Murray (1-3--4) led the
way. Norm Bazin was the only Chief to have two goals.

It was the first time Lowell had scored in double digits since a 10-4
win over Alabama-Huntsville on 10/27/90. It was also the Chiefs'
largest margin of victory since a 9-0 win over Northeastern on 12/3/87.

Despite this win, I can't agree that Lowell is a top 5 team...top 5 in
HE, no doubt. :-) But the Chiefs have rebounded strong from back-to-
back drillings by RPI and BU to go unbeaten in their last 6 (4-0-2).
However, this is the first time I've seen their offense look as
dominant as they did earlier in the season. I will reserve judgment
till we see how they perform in the rematch with BU a week from
tomorrow. Roloson was not tested in his two periods.

Lowell's candidate for HE Rookie of the Year, Greg Bullock, scored
once in the first and then somehow injured his shoulder. He did not
play the rest of the game, but early reports were that he would
probably return for the Chiefs' next game Friday at BC. Lowell's
Saturday game at home vs BC will again be shown by WNDS-TV50 at 7:00 pm.
Get out those earplugs.

BTW, check out our coverage of BU-Merrimack Friday night at 7:00 pm.
You might hear another familiar name on the air in between periods.

BU is shooting for the school's 1000th win, while Merrimack coach Ron
Anderson is two wins away from his 200th. (obviously he can't get
that Friday...)

Finally, that Ric Schafer quote about two pucks made quote of the
week in THN. Whatever way you can get the publicity, I guess. :-)
