One more factor... With Johns Hopkins joining the Big-10(whatever) as an
"associate" lacrosse member, how long before other "hockey primary" programs
might be approached/approach the Big-10(whatever) for a similar arrangement
with hockey.... There have been some reports that the Big-10(whatever) is
considering this..... If the BTN viewership can support hockey payouts, I
can think of several programs that might be interested in such an
arrangement.....

David -

I had not realized there was as much club hockey amongst the rest of the Big
Ten. That's a positive thing. The question is whether all of this and
possibly some TV success can draw more in. That would be good for college
hockey. The risk is that it could just result in more revenue concentration
with the rich growing richer and poorer programs failing.

There has been a lot of speculation on what might happen next -- and when --
in Big10 hockey.

Arena size is a factor -- but just looking at the current club team venues
doesn't tell the whole story. One option might be to play at the current
basketball arena, depending on configuration, scheduling etc. Or at a
different arena in the area. In the long run, of course, Division 1 hockey
is expensive and needs significant infrastructure.

This blog post on the topic is pretty good:
