When I started reading your post, I thought that you were going to reference his famous retort:

Ruth was asked by a reporter what he thought of his yearly salary of $80,000 being more than
President Hoover's $75,000. His response: "I know, but I had a better year than Hoover." [That's
in Wikipedia, so it must be true!].

Seriously, that making more than the governor argument is a red herring.  I would imagine in
pretty much every state in the US, the highest paid public employee is a coach, and in most cases,
it's a football or basketball coach who has a seven or eight digit salary, and most of them didn't
have as good a year as Umile did.  Fire him if you want, but not because he makes more that the
governor.
