With the conference post-season tournaments over and the NCAA tournament
almost upon us, it's time to announce the winners of the Pick the
Post-Season Tournaments contests. For Contest #2, in which all rounds are
scored the same, the overall winner once again is...

     Nick Markham

whose 37 points were two better than runners-up Wayne Smith and Scott Kaplan.

As for the individual conference winners...

William Sangrey, Nick Markham, and Troy D. Mills all finished tied for the
top spot in the ECAC with 8 points each. William took the first
tie-breaker, as his championship-game score was closer to the actual result
than anyone else's.

The Hockey East crown went to Mike Larson with a perfect 7 points.

The CCHA race ended in a tie between Nick Markham and Wayne Smith with 10
points each. Both remained tied after the first tiebreaker (championship
game score), but Nick won the second tiebreaker and the title, as his
predicted total goals scored in the tournament was 13 points closer than
Wayne's.

Tony Buffa's 8 points were good for first place in the WCHA.

From last week's update, Nick Markham took the top spot in Atlantic Hockey
with 7 points, while the CHA went to Robin Lock in a tiebreaker with 4 points.

Tiebreaker notes: The first tiebreaker was the difference between your
predicted championship-game score and the actual score. Thus, if you
picked the score of the ECAC championship game (actually 4-1) to be 3-2,
you would get two points; if you picked 1-0, you would get four points; and
if you picked 6-4, you would get five points. Obviously, the lower the
point score the better.

The second tiebreaker was the difference between your predicted total of
goals scored in the entire tournament and the actual number. Again, the
lower the point total the better.

As far as tiebreakers that were actually needed:

For the ECAC, the championship game score was 4-1.
For the CCHA, the championship game score was 2-1 and the total goals
scored in the tournament was 148.
For the CHA (from last week), the championship game score was 3-2 and the
total goals scored in the tournament was 23.

The USCHO prognosticators' numbers are included below, as are the "Higher
Seed" picks showing what would have happened if the higher seed for each
game had been picked to win.
