In past seasons, Rule 6.3 applied only to deliberate attempts to injure.
This season it was changed to:
"SECTION 3. A player shall not injure, or deliberately attempt to
injure an opponent, official, coach or any other non-playing person in
any manner.
P E N A L T Y D i s q u a l i f i c a t i o n ."
Thus, HEA's rather strange remark:
"The penalty, Attempt to Injure, does not require deliberate behavior."
I think the Commish meant that Rule 6.3 no longer requires deliberate
behavior.
I do not recall this penalty being invoked at the Alfond this season,
even though there were probably several injuries caused by an opponent.
If one takes a slap shot from the blue line and an opponent is hit in
the skate by the puck ... and gets a really painful bruise, is not the
shooter open to disqualification according to 6.3?!
cheers, wayne
