The main thing I was trying to stress here was that Minnesota may not have
been as bad their record last year. It is of course also valid to say that
a great team wins those 1 goal games, as Michigan did a year ago. In no
way was I satisfied with the performance of my team last year, but I think
they are good enough to compete for the WCHA this year (based both on
improvement and a somewhat deceiving record from 97-98).

Why in the world would the NCAA play the West Regional at the Dane County
Coliseum?? (An old, outdated building instead of a brand new facility).
I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression on the Kohl Center's use thus far.
I was at a men's basketball game last year there, so I know that the
building is completed and in use and is also the home of Badger hockey.
They will play hockey there, so it is strange to me that the regional would
be at the Coliseum. FWIW, the women's hockey program plays its
"non-competitive" year this year before starting as a full varsity sport
next year. My grandfather is a retired UW employee and has been informed
through boosters that the women will play at the Kohl Center, starting next
year.
