MSU smoked Michigan last night. I thought both games would be close MSU
victories but 5-1 was a blowout. Congrats to the greenies.

Michigan had enough shots on goal and enough quality shots to score more goals
(though not 5!) and they just didn't come through. Both Herr and Muckalt had
very strong opportunities that neither could score on.

Both goalies made some outstanding film highlight type of saves. Malicke did
a great job. He made most of the stops he had to make (Berens goal off the
faceoff was a bad play by Greg). Greg's job is to make the first stop and the
defense's job is to clear the puck after that. Michigan's defense was no
where to be seen on State's first 3 goals. MSU had a man parked in front of
the net reading a book, waiting for a pass, and then had 2 shots on net (the
second shot was a goal) and not one Michigan player ever ever touched him
(this was on equal strength also).

Defense wins championships and MSU should win the CCHA championship.

Berens was unbelievable. Canada's olympic team needed him for their shootout.
Berens played one of the best offensive games I've seen in 9 years of watching
college hockey. What pro team has his rights???
