Even more amazing, of course, would be that the three regional teams would
be playing *in* the region as well...
 
From 1948 through 1980 the tourny was 2 eastern and 2 western teams, so no
interesting threesomes were possible.  Hmm, perhaps I should rephrase that,
especially in lieu of some final four travel stories I have heard from old-
timers, but moving right along...
 
In 81 the four were: Minn, Wisc, MNU, and MTU -- that seems pretty localized
from this distance.  In 85 -- the greatest final four ever played -- the
field featured Providence, BC, and RPI.    Those are the tightest clusters I
can come up with.
