University of New Hampshire captain Mark Mowers was injured in the second
period of Saturday night's Governor's Cup final against Maine at UNH's
Whittemore Center. Mowers was hit from behind by Maine forward Ben Guite, and
was knocked unconscious. It was easily the scariest thing I've ever seen in a
hockey game. He remained motionless on the ice for 13 minutes and was taken
to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was released later that night to his
parents and UNH head coach Dick Umile. He suffered a concussion, but is
otherwise OK. Guite received a game misconduct for the hit.

Mowers is likely to miss this weekend's games against UMass-Lowell, but
should return for the Wildcat's Dec. 12 home game against Boston University.

Other than that incident, the tournament provided a weekend of decent hockey.
If no one else has posted game details by late this afternoon/early tomorrow
morning, I'll put something together.
