"Finally, I had to make a new paragraph to dispute the fate of my Alma
Mater. Clarkson is ranked 13th, 124 points behind Vermont. Clarkson is
5th in the ECAC, while UVM is 8th with more games played. The Knights
have some bad losses (Yale, Union) as do the Cats (Dartmouth, RPI,
others). The Knights have some big wins (Boston Coll, BU) as do the Cats
(BU). What's up with this, I realize the rankings are close, but 124
points isn't."

I posted somthing similar to this on another forum and I think it applies
here as well. To compare, at least at this juncture, UVM and Clarkson is
rather unfair, IMHO, because of the large difference in their strength of
schedules. Dan gives credit to UVM for only 1 big game win, but in
reality, they have big game wins against BU, UNH (plus a loss), Miami
and Lake State...all of which are ranked opponents...UVM also has wins
against Lowell, Providence and Amherst...this is certainly not that bad;)
It is true that they have not performed in the league and I have no idea
why (injuries, bad play, teams knowing how to deal with the
connection...who knows), but at least their record and strength of
schedule speak for themselves....

On-the-other-hand, Clarkson has played only 1 ranked opponent all year
(and it was a win) in BU...they have a sweep that everyone expected
against Ohio State, a win against a good BC team and were swept by an
underachieving Dever team (6-6-1 right now I think?)...add to this a
couple losses in the league to Union and Yale and I simply cannot see the
comparison...I think Clarkson will have a very strong team once they
really get rolling, but at this point, it just seems premature to put
Clarkson (point-wise at least) close to UVM...

Just my thoughts;)
