Seems to me that Harrick, Woog and Walsh all did both ... and the
punishments were appropriate to their misdeeds.

Perhaps any of us that have exceeded the auto speed limit, cruised
thru a stop sign in the middle of nowhere, come to an appointment 5
minutes late, or shot our best friend because s/he slept with our
significant other, should immediately be fired and stuck in jail until
we see the light?

I don't know much about any of these 3 situations, but it seems that
Woog got himself caught between an NCAA regulation and trying to be
decent to one of his players. Woog caused the problem, but once in it,
it *appears* he was just trying to do the right thing (for the
situation). We can all say it's wrong and he shouldn't get himself
into that situation again. But how does that misdeed measure up to
what he has done for his school and what he might be expected to do in
the future?

An administrator can demand a well-run, highly ethical operation, yet
still have to deal with mistakes or misdeeds, from time to time.

If there are some people that think a punishment is too harsh and some
that think it too weak ... than maybe it's about right?

Sorry for the rambling,
wayne
