Just wanted to point out that Magliarditi did not actually "turn pro" in
terms of signing an NHL or minor league contract - he will be playing major
junior hockey with Spokane of the WHL next year.  Of course, this is sort
of considered pro by the NCAA.
 
It's hard to know whether he might have been able to make his decision
earlier and give WMU more time to find another goalie, too.  Maybe not.
There have been cases in the past where players were recruited by college
teams and even signed, and then they decided to go major junior over the
summer.  This happened with Merrimack and Emmanuel Fernandez a few years
ago, and I also seem to recall that about 6 years ago, Jim Campbell was
signed by BC but did not decide until just before the school year to play
in the QMJHL instead.
