Now that Michigan has won the NCAA Championship, perhaps I can start a
discussion about the Hobey Baker Award.

The Hobey Baker Award has been given since 1981. Surprisingly, with the
exception of Neal Broten (1981 recipient) and Paul Kariya (1993 recipient),
none of the winners of the Hobey Baker Award have become impact players in
the NHL.

Is this NHL futility also true for the runners-up for the Hobey Award? Have
any the other finalists had any more success in the NHL? Why don't the Hobey
Baker winners become NHL impact players?
