I *assume* that several people jumped on this privately, but
since I haven't seen anything on Hockey-L...the polls are NOT
a source of seeding for any tournament that I'm aware of. The
only rating of any relevance is the NCAA's Rating Percentage
Index (RPI), and its role has been downplayed for 1995-96.
The RPI is based solely on games versus other NCAA Division
I tourney eligible teams and is a linear combination of winning
percentage, opponents winning percentage and opponents
opponents winning percentage. Skim the Hockey-L archives
and you'll find more than you ever wanted to know/read about
the RPI. :-)

As for the possibility of Steve Cedorchuk coaching at BU, I
have to side with Dave Hendrickson, from afar. It certainly
appears, from several published reports, that SC did some
serious wrong-doing while heading BC. I can't really say
anything about Cedorchuk because I've never met him, but
his current reputation is not positive.

And, regarding the St Lawrence nickname, with no intention
of fanning the flames, I'll say the following. I recently had the
pleasure of researching Michigan's seven NCAA titles. In
the process, I encountered game reports from various SLU
games...including their 1952 and 1956 semifinal losses to
Michigan. Admittedly this is a different period of journalism,
but I recall them only being referred to as the Larries. The
Skating Saints may be their official moniker, but I've only
picked that up from Hockey-L. Here in Ann Arbor, SLU is
still the Larries. (Albeit, it's mighty rare to have SLU pop up
in a conversation among Michigan hockey fans.)
