i understand that no n.a.c. rules were broken by the scheduling of 27 games,
yet! most years this would not have been a problem, but the maine women are
having one of the best years their program has ever had. it is too bad that
they may not have a chance to play for the conf. title, with the year they are
having they could do quite well in the "big" tournament.the n.a.c. is going
to listen to the case again apparently, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
as for the bonehead mistakes that you refered to, i don't think that is
quite the same subject that i was refering to. true there have been lots of
bonehead mistakes made by athletes that cost the team games or titles. (such
as leon lett, or even chris webber with his infamous "time out" but these are
athletes making mistakes, not the administration. i know that polumbo didn't
realize her mistake until it was "too" late, but there should be a way to drop
a game to allow them to compete. i can honestly say that i will feel robbed
if they are not allowed to play in the conf. tournament. to see them have
such a fine year without being allowed to go to the n.a.c. tournament is a
poor way to see the university be punished for administrative mistakes. there
must be a hundred different ways to punish them without punishing the players.
