The checks were not brutal, it just seemed that way :). But my daddy's
checks to Clarkson were a lot smaller than the current parents' checks
today -- but that's a different story...
Seriously, in the mid 70's Clarkson was struggling (sub .500 teams) with
primarily bangers. The school made a conscious choice then to mix speed
(McNally, Zappia, Taylor) with power (Conroy, Valentine, Hewitt) and had a
pretty good run. I think all good teams need a combination of both to be
successful at the National Level.
Slipping into nostalgia for the good old days.....
