Subject: Maine High School Playoffs/Travis Roy

This weekend the Maine High School Playoffs begin. The schedule,
seedings and preview are on my home page.

Just a note for any coaches or
recruiters who might be out there, the Thornton Academy goalie
deserves a look. He's only a junior, but has been the story of this
season in Maine. He has posted at least five 40+ save games, including
56 against NYA two weeks ago. He is impressive because he doesn't
give up rebounds and covers the net well. I was surprised to see a
netminder that good in Maine.
NYA plays Thornton at 4:30 at the NYA Arena in Yarmouth on Saturday.

This Sunday afternoon the Maine Mariners Alumni play the Boston Bruins
Alumni at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland. The game
will benefit the Travis Roy Fund. Included in the events will be
a skate with the teams and a tour of the Portland Pirates dressing
room, plus an auction of merchandise featuring Bobby Orr and Wayne
Gretzky. Tickets are $10 and are on sale via Ticketmaster
(www.ticketmaster.com) or the Civic Center Box Office.
