This is an attempt to answer the question involving the 14 games...
I'm trying to reconstruct this from memory, but I could be wrong,
so don't sue me...
If I remember correctly, Cal was ineligible for the fall semester
of 1991, but no one realized it. I think the error was made by
someone in the registrar's office at the University College in
Bangor, and involved the number of credits he had received for
courses there. During that fall semester he played in 14 games
for UMaine, which was later found out to be an error.
However, he did have enough credits in the Spring semester, so
those games were not forfeited and he was not penalized for them.
He then sat out 14 games after the error was discovered.
That's how I remember it. If that's not right, please correct
me because that's how I've always understood the ruling...
