Bill writes in his Cornell recap:

Sounds like a bad call - rule 2-5(a) clearly states that if the departing
player is struck accidentally by the puck, no penalty shall be called.
Unless the Cornell player did somehow play the puck which led to the call.

Are you sure he wasn't upset at something else?  Icing can only be waved
off if one of the *opponents* had a chance to touch it.  [rule 6-23(d)]
