Subject: Clarkson vs. SLU
Newsgroups: cct.hockey-l
Summary: Clarkson vs. SLU
Keywords: Clarkson vs. SLU

Clarkson defeated St. Lawrence last night by a score of 6-4. For
Clarkson it was their ninth consecutive win over their north country
rivals. The last time SLU beat Clarkson was back in December of 1991
when SLU handed Clarkson its first loss in the new Cheel Arena. The
unoffical scoring and game summary is as follows:
St. Lawrence scored the first goal of the evening, a power play goal 2:28
into the period. Clarkson responded with three straight goals, one by each
Todd White, Dana Mulvihill and Chris Lipsett. Todd's goal was his team high
8th of the season and was a short handed goal. SLU put in one more towards
the end of the period making it 3-2 after one period of play.

In the second, SLU again scored first. A power play goal just over five
minutes into the period. Once again, Clarkson responded with three
unanswered goals. Another one by Lipsett, and then one each by Steve Palmer
and Chris DeRuiter. For Palmer, the goal gave him 99 career points at
Clarkson. SLU put in one more goal in the third period to make it a 6-4
contest.

The victory put Clarkson at 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the ECAC, while SLU
dropped to 2-1 in league play. There were 3832 fans in attendance last
night, the second largest crowd in Cheel Arena history. Clarkson plays
two non-league contests over Thanksgiving, in BU and Boston College.
Clarkson was 2/6 on the power play, SLU 2/10, with Clarkson having 35 SOG
compared to 25 for SLU.

One note for the game. The game was a very dirty contest with lots of
small fights breaking out throughout the contest. Also, CU goalie Dan
Murphy gave all Clarkson fans a scare when he went down on the ice for about
three minutes in the middle of the second period. However, he seemed to be
okay and did play the rest of the game.
