Hardly. The U of Minnesota already has a similar policy.

John, are you PC? Hallelujah, another convert. :-)

The new policy will be that the UW cannot schedule non-conference
games against teams with Indian nicknames, mascots, or logos.
Thus, conference games against Illinois and N Dakota(hockey only)
will not be affected. Also, postseason play against teams
with Indian mascots, etc. will not be affected.

This new policy has not been finalized yet so there may still be a
few changes. This policy is obviously a compromise between those
who want all games against schools with Indian mascots stopped
and those who see no need for any policy at all. Personally, I am
satisfied with the compromise. To forfeit conference games because
an opponent has an Indian mascot just punishes the UW athletes
and sports teams. It is unfortunate that the long basketball
rivalry between the Marquette Warriors and UW may come to a close.
However, I think some lobbying of Marquette (i.e. some bad PR, PC-style)
would have more effect than any UW actions.

Interesting topic, though it only tangentially concerns college
hockey. I'm willing to move the subject to email if things get
too far from hockey (or too hot!).
