Ref Harry Ammian came out with his red hot whistle from the previous
night still fired up. He went to work calling a renalty against Colgate
after 30 or 40 seconds. Ammian had called 32 penalties the night before
in the SLU-Colgate game, including; 2 game DQ's, 2 misconducts and 3 5
minute majors. Last night, Ammian called 24 penalties for 56 minutes
worth, including; 13 2 minute penalties in the first period and 10
penalties for 28 minutes worth in the second period. There was 9:20 of
5-on-5 in the first and 9:58 worth in the second. Clarkson had three
penalties 85 sec. apart that led to the 2 Colgate goals.

Clarkson came out and controlled the play. The team looked good and was
handling Colgate pretty well. The game really didn't develope any flow
with all of the penalties. The Clarkson fore-checking was sharp again,
causing many Colgate turn-overs. Currie was in goal after sitting out
three games. He made several real good saves to get himself back into
the rotation. After the Clarkson third goal, the team seemed to ease up
some. Getting some good chances that stopped and just grinning at each
other. However, they were pulled into the scrappy play of Colgate and
took several penalties that let Colgate score twice and make it a 3-2
game. With the play in the neutral zone, Fotheringham came out of the
penalty box and picked up the puck behind the Colgate defense. He
skated in and beat Baker bad between the legs. Clarkson had one
2-on-none and two 2-on-1 rushes while short handed that were stopped by
Baker in the first and second period. Marchant was frustrated all
night, not picking up a point. He was on two of those rushes and had
good solo chance or two as well. The second period went on forever,
with the 10 penalties and 4 goals. Baker and Colgate collapsed in the
third period as Clarkson put it to them. Baker assisted on Tuomainen's
goal when he passed the puck out from behind the net onto Belanger's
stick. Belanger slid the puck to Tuomainen who was at the side of the
empty Colgate net.

Clarkson is going to have to keep their level of play up when they
travel to Yale and Princeton this weekend. They just need to look at
what happened to Harvard to see what they can expect.
