FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MTU OFF TO MILE HIGH CITY TO FACE DU PIONEERS THIS WEEKEND
Huskies Look To Climb Up WCHA Standings

This Week: The Michigan Technological University hockey team will travel to
Denver, Colo., this weekend for a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey
Association series against the University of Denver Pioneers. Both games
are slated for 9:05 p.m. (EST) opening faceoffs at the DU Arena (4,700).

On Radio: All Michigan Tech games can be heard live on WZRK radio, 93.5 FM.
Bob Olson, the dean of broadcasters in the WCHA, is in his 24th season as
the voice of the Huskies. Volunteer assistant coach Darcy Way is back for
his fifth year providing color commentary.

The Records: MTU is 12-10-3 on the season overall and 9-9-2 in the WCHA.
The Huskies gained one point in a home series with Minnesota-Duluth last
weekend. Denver, which split at home with Alaska Anchorage last weekend, is
15-8-1 in all games and 11-8-1 in league play.

The Coaches: Bob Mancini (Colorado College, 1982) is in his third year
behind the bench at MTU. He owns a 42-52-13 record at the school and in
four-plus years as a college head coach sports a 78-83-24 mark. George
Gwozdecky (Wisconsin, 1978) is in his first season behind the bench at
Denver. In five-plus years as a college head coach, Gwozdecky owns an
84-95-19 career record.

The Series: Michigan Tech and Denver meet for the 154th and 155th times
this weekend. In a series that dates back to the 1950-51 campaign, MTU has
a 73-69-11 series advantage. Earlier this season, the teams split a series
in Houghton, Mich., with MTU winning 4-2 on Oct. 28 and DU taking a 4-2
victory on Oct. 29.

Coach Mancini on the Denver Series: "We saw Denver very early in the year
and know they are an outstanding hockey club. We'll have our hands full,
however, I know our players will be ready to go come Friday night."

Coach Mancini on the Minnesota-Duluth Series: "Obviously it was a
disappointing weekend, picking up only one point at home. It was not,
however, the end of the world. We've got a young hockey team that is
continuing to develop. I'm sure it's been frustrating for our fans, because
we haven't been that successful at home, however, patience will pay off."
