A couple of weeks ago we were discussing who was the last man cut from the
1980 Olympic team roster. There was a difference of opinion about who it really
was.
Well, I now, finally have the *definitive* answer!
This morning on a brand-new talk show on KFAN here in Mpls, which features
Herb Brooks along with Tim Johnson and Mike ??? I asked Herb the ultimate
trivia question....
Who was the last man cut from the 1980 Olympic team?
The answer from Herb was:
"Well, I know who the last man cut in 1960 was also (*laughter*)" Then Herb
said "It was Ralph Cox, an All-American from UNH."
So, right from the horses mouth, as it were. The announcers also mentioned
that they thought it had been Les Auge (which was what I and many of the other
Minnesota folks remembered) and Herb talked about Les, and he was *one* of the
last guys cut, but Ralph Cox was the last.
I also told them I was asking the question, because we had been discussing it
here. (I personally hope they go nuts trying to figure out who we are! :-) )
So there you have it!!!
