A year or so ago, when the U of MN was shopping for a new coach, UNoDak
coach Dean Blais was high on the list of desired candidates. At that time,
one of the local sports/gossip columnists offered up the rumor that Blais
didn't want the Gophers job, but would definitely like to coach an NHL
team in the future.
Sooooo, the Minnesota Wild will commence to playing this fall. Any rumors
(in Providence or Grand Forks or Azuza or Cucamonga or...) about this
floating about? Personally, I couldn't think of a better high note on
which to leave one's college hockey coaching career than winning the NCAA
championship.
