An interesting tidbit in the Boston Globe on the Sports Media page of the
Sports section - In the TV/RADIO notebook by Jim Greenidge there are a few
paragraphs abut the loss of the Hartford Whalers and the impact on
SportsChannel. The quote that I found interesting was from Marc Edwards,
SportsChannel's VP and general maanger. He states that they will find
replacement programming. "But it will be local programming; that's our
strength. We have a lot going on at the college level."
My question - is that college hockey or college basketball? With the change in
NESN's coverage and fewer games on WABU and Ch. 50 (I read they were going to
become a shopping channel), does this mean that SportsChannel sees and opening
and is going to pick up more college hockey games? I hope that Hockey East
isn't the only league being considered. There are quite a few ECAC teams
within the SportsChannel New England coverage.
