This is not intended to be any kind of woof, but, IMO, Berenson and
the Wolves have a major choking problem with LSSU in big games. Actually,
it continues to amaze me. Michigan will beat LSSU soundly all year
but then, either in the late season, CCHA's or NCAA's, the tables are
turned. I think this continues to weigh heavily on Red, the Michigan
teams and many of the fans. Please feel free to refute me on this if
I'm wrong.

As an example, at Friday's game there was a couple vocal Michigan fans
sitting behind me in what was a predominately LSSU section. (BTW, I'm
pretty sure they were from Soo, Ontario. Are they relatives of any
Wolves????) Anyway, the trivia question for the night was "When was the
last time LSSU beat Michigan in a regular season game?" The most vocal
Michigan fan respond loudly, "Never!"; a gutsy move considering where
he was sitting. However, an LSSU fan behind him immediately responded
with, "Yeah, we just wait until it counts." The Michigan fan had no
reply. And that pretty much sums it up.

Please don't mistake this as a prediction of performance in the upcoming
playoff games. Michigan is still a very dangerous and talented hockey
team and the entire upper half of the CCHA is a strong as I can remember.
But I think Michigan's failure against LSSU in big games is as apparent
to them as it is to us and it's something of a monkey on their back.
Again, if you think I'm wrong, let me know.
