NOTES
As of today, Merrimack is still trying to fill a home game early in
the season that had tentatively been scheduled against Ohio State.
This game will probably be on either Oct 27-28 or Nov 10-11, two
weekends Merrimack currently has no games scheduled for.

I'll surmise that they will take one of those weeks off. This past
season, Merrimack took a week at the very beginning of the season and
it may have contributed to the slow start (1-8-1). That's something
that cannot be afforded next year since unlike the last few seasons,
Merrimack is slated to open with two HE games and currently has 7
straight league games scheduled to begin 1995-96.

9 nonconference games are scheduled (pending a 10th). They are:

HOME (4): Union, Brown, Yale, Army
AWAY (3): RPI, Air Force (2)
NEUTRAL (2): Wilfrid Laurier, Ottawa/Princeton

Union and Merrimack last met on 1/1/93, a 2-0 Merrimack home win.

Brown and Merrimack last met on 12/29/89 in the first round of the RPI
Invitational, a 6-4 Merrimack win. Next year's game will take place
at 4 pm on New Year's Day, marking the fourth time in five years that
Merrimack will have played on that holiday - three of those games at
home. It's becoming a tradition unique to Merrimack in all of college
hockey, since only two other non-exhibition games have been played on
New Year's Day since 1988. Now the goal will be to get more than 400
people to show up for that game.

Yale and Merrimack have not played since at least the 1985-86 season.
I'd have to check records at home to find out when the last meeting
was, if ever.

Wilfrid Laurier and Ottawa are Canadian universities, and games against
them will not count in the DivI record. Merrimack is counting both
games in the National Capital Tournament in Ottawa towards the 34-game
limit.

Merrimack will play 10 of its first 15 games away from home (if they
schedule an add'l home nonconference game early on). Just before the
first semester break are 4 games with Maine and BU, 3 on the road. If
they head into 1996 in good shape, they'll have a great chance to
finish strong.

That's because from Jan 27 through the end of February, the Warriors
don't leave the Merrimack Valley at all - with their only road game
ten miles away at Mass Lowell on Feb 17. Merrimack will play 8 home
games during that four-week stretch, then they finish up at UNH on the
final weekend in March.
