In a massive nail-biter in St. Paul, Colorado College defeats Minnesota
5-4 in overtime tonight to move on to the championship game tomorrow night.
  The first period was all Minnesota, as they scored three goals. (I
think they were from Ryan Kraft, Scott Bell, and someone else)  The Tigers
weren't off to a great start in this period, and it looked to be a long
night if they didn't shape up.
  In the second period CC got their first goal from Chad Hartnell, who just
slipped it right past Callinan from the side, bringing the Minnesota lead
to only two at 3-1.  Jed Fiebelkorn got it back for the Gophers, though,
and they were still leading 4-1 at the end of the period.
  The Tigers finally came to life in the third, as Calvin Elfring took a
shot on Callinan and R.J. Enga put in the rebound only 29 seconds into the
game.  A minute or two later Colin Schmidt put in his first of the night
to bring the Tigers to within one.  Both teams were buzzing the net, and
it came down to within the final two minutes, when Jason Christopherson
tied up the game on a controversial goal, as some thought the Tigers were
offsides. (It was hard to tell from the camera angles shown)  CC didn't
let down their guard, and we were headed for overtime.
(on a sidenote, during this intermission, they were talking to Rick Comley
about the selection process for the NCAA tournament, and also about the
ratings, mentioning again that Erik Biever computes that for them. :)
  Overtime was another 20 minute period.  Early in (can't remember the
time), it looked as though Minnesota had won the game as Mike Crowley put
the puck in the net, but referee Robin Anderson waved off the goal,
saying Brian Bonin was in the crease.  When MSC showed the replay, you
could definitely hear his whistle before the puck went in.  Being short-
handed, this was a massive second chance for the Tigers.  Play went back
and forth between the ends, but CC was able to keep the puck more in the
Minnesota end.  Ryan Bach made some spectacular saves on Minnesota shots,
even coming out to play the puck a few times.  The game-winner finally
came at 15:53, when Colin Schmidt was fed by Eric Rud, and took a couple
of shots before he managed to lift it over Callinan.  The team went
wild, and Schmidt was still a little in disbelief that they had won the
game when they interviewed him afterwards, being chosen as the player of
the game.
  Now Minnesota faces Denver in the afternoon to determine third place,
and CC takes on Wisconsin at night to determine who gets the Broadmoor
Trophy this year.
