I guess the regular season has absolutely nothing to do with the NCAA
playoff picture. Colorado College finishes 1st place in the WCHA and
runs into an unbeleivably tough goaltender in the 1st round of the WCHA
playoffs and falls short. Certainly MTU who was in last place upset CC
and prevented them from going to Milwaukee. But with Minnesota defeating
St. Cloud in overtime, this certainly should have been a lock to take 3
teams from the WCHA. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Colorado College. How
could the commitee select 4 teams from the CCHA and only 2 from the
WCHA. How does Michigan State and especially Western Michigan recieve a
bid ahead of Colorado College. Is it because the regionals are in CCHA
territory. The last College Hockey poll showed Colorado College in easy
position for a bid. I Could understand the selection if St. Cloud
defeated Minnesota, then Colorado College would be excluded, but this is
a tremendous slap in the face to the WCHA as well as an outstanding
Colorado College Hockey team that rightfully deserved to participate in
the NCAA playoffs.
