From this morning's (3/20/94) Star-Tribune article by John Gilbert:

WCHA All-Tournament Team:

Forwards: Brian Bonin, Minnesota
            Billy Lund, St. Cloud
            Jeff Nielsen, Minnesota
Defensemen: Mickey Elick, Wisconsin
            Chris McAlpine, Minnesota
Goalie: Grant Sjerven, St. Cloud

MVP: Chris McAlpine, Minnesota

Also, the other good news is that, in addition to gaining a win last night, the
Gophers lost a loss. "Huh?" you say. I'll quote Gilbert's article:

On top of the victory, the Gophers learned that their 4-3 double-overtime loss
to Lake Superior State in the final of their own Christmas tourrnament would
count as a tie instead of a loss. Although the game was played to conclusion,
NCAA season games end after one overtime. That makes the Gophers 24-11-5,
meaning they gained a victory and erased a loss, which could be significant in
today's NCAA seeding process, where the Gophers and Lake Superior State could be
battling for the second seed and the bye.
{end quoted material}

This could be very important, both for its effect on the RPICH numbers and for
the Gophers' standing in the tie-breaking process if it's a close call for the
#2 West seed between LSSU and Minnesota, as it could be if LSSU wins today:

(from Erik's RPICH counting the game as a Minnesota loss)
                                                 Opp OppOpp
                         G W L T Win% Win% Win% RPICH

 4 New Hampshire 38 22-13- 3 .6184 .5404 .5191 .5546
 5 Minnesota 40 24-12- 4 .6500 .5235 .5131 .5525
 6 Lake Superior 41 28- 9- 4 .7317 .4852 .5070 .5523

If the game is counted as a tie, Minnesota's record goes to .6625 and LSSU's to
.7195, changing both teams' RPICH by .0031, as well as eliminating LSSU's edge
in the head-to-head tie-breaker. This also moves Minnesota up (barely) past UNH
into #4.
