The top two ECAC teams met at Bright Hockey Center with the
Harvard Crimson defeating the Yale Elis, 4-1, breaking a streak of
three straight ties between the two teams. Yale now drops down to 3rd
place in the ECAC, trailing RPI by 1 point.

Harvard, still charged up after their Beanpot victory over BU
last Tuesday, dominated the game, badly outshooting Yale 29-11 in the
first two periods. The 1st period was a one sided affair that could
have created a blowout if not for the fine goaltending of Sullivan.
Sullivan was very effective covering up rebounds on close range shots.
Early in the first period, Harvard Captain, Ted Drury, deflected a
slapshot wide of the net and went behind the net to chase the puck. As
Sullivan slowly backed up to his goal, Drury alertly centered the puck
which hit the back of Sullivan's skate and into the net for the
period's only goal.

The second period featured several Harvard power plays in
which the Crimson scored three goals in a span of seven minutes. Steve
Flomenhoft, Matt Mallgrave, and Chris Baird were the goal scorers.
Yale was given a 5-3 power play midway through the period and seconds
after the first penalty expired, Jack Duffy backhanded a rebound past
Israel's right leg for Yale's only goal.

The third period was a pretty even match with both sides
getting chances but neither scoring. Yale had a breakaway that was
stopped by Israel, and Drury set up his linemates many times only to
be stopped by Sullivan.

Harvard seems to be playing with a lot of confidence after the
Beanpot as all four lines played extremely well tonight. Defenseman
Derek Maguire is returning to form after missing the first semester.
He make several nice defensive plays and has moved to the right point
on the first power play unit, replacing Lou Body.

Harvard plays Princeton tomorrow afternoon while Yale travels
to Brown.
