MICHIGAN, BOWLING GREEN AND MICHIGAN STATE HEAD TO THE JOE
MIAMI TO VISIT LAKE SUPERIOR WEDNESDAY TO DETERMINE 4TH SEED
 
ANN ARBOR -- For the fifth time in the last six years (only exception being
1994) all first round series were two-game sweeps.  Regular-season champion
Michigan upended Ohio State, 7-2 and 4-0, while second-seeded Bowling Green
swept Notre Dame by scores of 7-2 and 5-4.  Third-seeded Michigan State
defeated Illinois @ Chicago, 6-4 and 4-2, while Lake Superior took two from
Western Michigan, 7-2 and 5-0.  Fifth-seeded Miami advanced with 10-2 and 4-2
wins over Ferris State.  Ohio State had moved into the first round with a 7-2
CCHA Preliminary Playoff game win over CCHA affiliate Alaska Fairbanks on
Tuesday, March 7th.
 
 On Wednesday Miami will visit Sault Ste. Marie to face Lake Superior to
determine which will be the fourth seed at the CCHA Championships at Joe Louis
Arena in Detroit.  Michigan will face the Wednesday winner at 1:00 p.m. on
Saturday, while Bowling Green and Michigan State will play in the second semi
final at 5:00 p.m.  All three games will be televised by Prime.
