Folks, I've got to step in here.
The postings concerning the Boston Globe story about U. of Maine has
caused some passionate feelings to surface. Some posts have come
through where those feelings have been expressed in such a way that
other posters may feel challenged or attacked.
Please, when you wish to dispute someone's point of view, remember that
the other person probably feels as strongly as you do and if you use
inflammatory language, such as labeling their opinions with derogatory
slurs, they are going to want to retaliate. This is the start of a
flame war. I don't think any of us want to see that on the list.
I WANT EVERYONE TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINIONS! That is the purpose of this
list. BUT (its a heavy but, here), be understanding of how the other
person is likely to read what you write.
