I believe these are currently the longest home unbeaten streaks
enjoyed by DivI teams:
1) Northern Michigan, 17 games - 16-0-1.
2) St Cloud, 15 games - 12-0-3.
3) Mass Amherst, 10 games - 10-0-0.
Note that none of Mass Amherst's 10 home wins came against a DivI
conference team, nor against any of the major independents.
Colorado College had an 11 game (9-0-2) home unbeaten streak before
losing to NMU this weekend.
Harvard has a 9 game home unbeaten streak (7-0-2). The Crimson last
lost at home on 3/6/93 to SLU, 3-1.
Last season, Maine was 30-0-2 overall before losing to BU. Maine did
not set the record for either overall winning streak or overall
unbeaten streak.
The longest overall unbeaten streak belongs to Dartmouth, 46 games
from 1941-46. Dartmouth had a 32 game winning streak in that stretch.
The modern records belong to RPI, 30 straight wins in 1984-85 and 38
without a loss (36-0-2) from 1984-86.
Before anyone asks about the longest home unbeaten or winning streak,
I'll point out that this is not a record I have seen listed officially
anywhere. It would be very difficult to determine, since it would
require checking the home records of all DivI teams ever. Maine might
hold it (I forget how many they went), but we can't be sure.
